The Christ is a sculpture of 2,500 tons and 30 meters of total height (an image of 20 meters high on a pedestal of 10 meters). It was inaugurated on January 16, 1998. The imposing Christ rises on the west side of Cerro Picacho, and can be seen from a distance by at least sixty percent of the population of the Central District, especially at night.
